Radiance exists because most beauty coverage is written by people who receive their products for free, and readers know it. We started this magazine to do something simpler: buy things ourselves, test them carefully, and say plainly what we found. Every product we review is purchased anonymously at retail — the same Sephora counters, Ulta Beauty aisles, Target and drugstore shelves, and Amazon.com listings available to any reader. We do not accept free samples from brands, we do not run paid placements, and no ranking on this site has ever been sponsored. When a product underperforms, we say so. When a $12.99 drugstore staple beats something three times its price, we say that too.
The Review Committee
Our testing is guided by three specialists who review our methods and help interpret results.
Professor Margareta Lindberg, MD, PhD, is a dermatologist and researcher whose work has long focused on skin aging and barrier health.
Dr. James Morrison, PhD, is a biochemist whose research centers on how topical ingredients actually reach and interact with skin.
Dr. Claire Dubois, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist whose clinical interests include pigmentation and non-invasive aesthetic care.
Full biographies for each committee member appear elsewhere on the site.
Corrections and Suggestions
We get things wrong sometimes, and we would rather hear about it from readers than pretend otherwise. If you have a correction, a category we should test next, or a question about how a particular result was reached, our editorial team welcomes the note and reads every one that comes in.
